Free legal advice for cancer patients

Cancer is something close to my heart. I lost 2 loved ones to cancer. For a lot of cancer patients dealing with their health might be easy compared to the other legal consequences they have to deal with – insurance coverage, government benefits, custody, employment discrimination… It is too much for anyone to deal with. So I wanted to highlight an agency that provides free legal advice for cancer patients in the free money Friday post today – Cancer Legal Resource Center.

Cancer Legal Resource Center is a collaboration between the Disability Rights Legal Center and Loyola Law School Los Angeles. According to their website-

The CLRC provides free information and resources on cancer-related legal issues to cancer survivors, caregivers, health care professionals, employers, and others coping with cancer.

Even though they are based out of Los Angeles, they provide free telephone counseling, cancer rights workshops and even volunteer attorneys to represent people with any kind of caner.

Here is some more information on how to take advantage of the free legal advice they kindly offer -

  • Phone : Call 866-843-2572 (Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM Pacific)
  • Online : They also have an online intake form which you can fill out to request assistance – Free legal advice request intake form.
  • Email : They can be contacted via email – CLRC@LLS.edu
  • Mail/Fax : You can fill the intake form pdf – click here to download the form and mail it to Cancer Legal Resource Center, 919 Albany Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015 or fax it to (213) 736-1428

There is no financial eligibility to request their help. And just with any free program, there might be some wait to get help. And yes it really is free, as far as I can see, it is legit and there is no catch.

This post is part of my (semi) regular free money Friday series. Click on the free money Friday link here or in the top navigation bar to see all the posts. Next week, I have a mega freebie post scheduled (how to get free stuff in general). Please come back to check that out :)

That’s really nice that you’re highlighting that resource. I’ve lost several loved ones to cancer too, and they go through so much.
